Brutal Precious by Sara Wolf

Isis Blake, an eighteen-year-old college student, hasn't fallen in love in three years, forty-three weeks and two days. Or so she thinks. The boy she maybe-sort-of-definately loves has disappeared off the face of the earth after the death of his ex-girlfriend Sophia, leaving a Jack shaped hole in Isis' life. But determined to be happy, Isis fills this hole with lies and puts on a brave face for her new life at Ohio State University. But how long can she smile when all her friends are gone, when she carries guilt over Sophia's death, and how long can it last when 'Nameless', the one person she never wanted to see again is at her school taunting her. Isis is pretty good at pretending she is ok, but not that good, and the cracks start to show. Isis Blake is good at pulling herself back together, but Jack Hunter is better.

The final book in the 'Lovely Vicious' series, 'Brutal Precious' did not disappoint. Whilst the series has been full of trials, lost love and vindictive battle of wills, you can't go past the beautiful courage, strength and humour that adorns Wolf's series. Isis and Jack have been through so much over the course of their story, and everything finally comes together for them, not through fate, but through determination and the bravery to finally let their guilt and sorrow go over not just Sophia, but past traumatic events that eventually led them to each other. A heart-warming ending to a beautiful series, Brutal Precious shows that to love is not to hurt, love is to accept every scar and every fault, no matter how big or how deep they go.

Rating: 5/5 Titans

"Living is really weird. You never get used to it. But is happens anyway. And sometimes you find things that make it a little more comfortable, and you try to hold onto those things, and the tighter you hold, the faster they slip away."
