Night Study by Maria V. Snyder

*ARC received for an honest review, thank you!

Ever since being kidnapped from the Illias Jungle as a child, Yelena Zaltana's life has been fraught with peril. But the recent loss of her soulfinding abilities has endangered her more than ever before. As she desperately searches for a way to reclaim her magic, her enemies are closing in, and neither Ixia, nor Sitia, are safe for her anymore. Especially since the growing disocrd between the two countries and a possibility of a war threatens everything Yelena holds dear.

Valek is determined to protect Yelena, but he's quickly running out of options. The Commander suspects that his loyalty is divided, and he's been keeping secrets from Valek...secrets that put him, Yelena and all their friends in terrible danger. As they uncover the various layers of the Commander's mysterious plans, they realise it is far more sinister than they could have ever imagined.

Review

The second instalment in the 'Soulfinders' series, Yelena, Valek, Janco and Ari are back for yet another adventure that will leave readers begging to be a part of Snyder's world of magic, mayhem and intrigue. These characters are ones that will never leave you, their love for each other and their dedication to doing what is right providing readers with a lot of very warm feelings. The world of Sitia and Ixia is interesting and full of powerful enemies that would do anything to see our protagonists suffer, but while there is darkness, the characters always manage to bring laughter and happiness in even the worst of times. This is what I love about this series, no matter the trials and tribulations they face, they always manage to come back to each other. Another beautiful and devastating addition to the world of magicians, assassins and love.

Rating: 4/5
